VillanuevaKALIBO, Aklan, January 28 (PIA6) -- The Aklan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC) will put more emphasis education to prepare people for diaster or calamity situations. Galo Ibardolaza, PDRRMC-Aklan Executive Officer said the provincial government of Aklan is continuously conducting disaster preparedness campaigns and other related activities to educate people and to inform them on what to do during disasters through seminars, trainings, orientations and drills. “We have conducted these activities in schools, local government units, banks, business establishments and other requesting organizations as part of our awareness campaign to prevent damages to lives and properties during disasters,” Ibardolaza said during the Governor’s Report program aired over a cable television channel here as one of the resource speakers. Besides orientation and seminars, Ibardolaza said the PDRRMC is also conducting capability and skills trainings to LGUs so the respective municipal councils will be more competent in conducting evacuation and rescue activities during disasters.
