Lapus expressed his gratitude to the Swedish government for having hosted a series of lectures in Metro Manila in celebration of the life of Carl Linnaeus, Sweden's most famous scientist. "While Sweden and the Philippines may be poles apart in terms of advances in the field of Science, there is a common thread that binds these two countries. It is the passion to learn and the love for Science," Lapus said. "Through carefully planned strategies in the delivery of Science education, the department hopes to train more scientists, nurture more scholars, develop more knowledge-makers and breed a new generation of thinking Filipino citizens," Lapus added.
