PGMA orders CDA to further empower Mindanao coops to bring down high prices: President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo orders the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) in Mindanao to work with the Department of Agriculture, Department of Trade and Industry, and Department of Transporation and Communications to enable cooperatives in the island to do more of bulk buying of inputs, bulk transport, and bulk marketing to help bring down high prices. During today's (March 10) opening of the 4th Mindanao Cooperative Summit in Cagayan de Oro City attended by some 3,000 delegates from the island's six regions, the President also rallied the Mindanao cooperatives to support her in the fight for a strong economy to cut poverty, achieve clean environment, attain quality education, and address corruption as she implements the Philippine Reform Agenda until she leaves office in 2010. "And with your support, I remain bullish on the cooperative movement, I remain optimistic about the future of cooperatives and the future of our country," President Arroyo concluded. (Bobo S.
