Tracing the route: President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo shows the various RORO (roll-on, roll-off) routes from Southern Luzon to Northern Mindanao during the 2nd Strong Republic Nautical Highway Conference held at the Xavier Estates, Cagayan de Oro City. The conference was the last leg in a three-day RORO caravan which started from Sorsogon to Masbate, Cebu, Bohol, and on to Camiguin and Misamis Oriental. After inspecting existing roads and ongoing expansion works of the Central Nautical Highway, the President instructed the DOTC and DPWH to prioritize and fast-track work on key road links. She also ordered the repair of the old Maharlika highway, instructed the DBP not to limit the financing of RORO boats to missionary routes, and removed the truck ban on food cargo. Furthermore, the President ordered the DOTC and DPWH to work now on the Eastern Nautical Highway: Pilar, Sorsogon to Masbate to Naval, Biliran to Leyte Island to Surigao City.
