 President Benigno Simeon Aquino III distributes relief goods to families displaced by flashfloods brought by the tail-end of the cold front (TECF) in Eastern Visayas region Friday January 14, 2011 at the evacuation center in Saint Bernard Central Elementary School (SBCES) in Barangay Maria Soccoro, Malibago, Saint Bernard, Southern Leyte. The relief goods include DSWD relief packs, DOH family hygiene and first aid kits. Flashfloods directly affected 66,259 families or 338,019 persons in Region VIII. A total of P26.3 million worth of assistance has already been released from the combined resources of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Local Government Units (LGUs), non-government Organizations (NGOs) and other government institutions to affected regions in the country.
