 Convergence of International Efforts to Emerging Diseases. Dr. Marlow Niņal, chief of the Public Health Surveillance and Informatics Division, National Epidemiology Center talks on the International Health Regulations (IHR) signed in 1969, the legally binding international agreement to prevent spread of disease which was revised in 2005 and implemented in 2007. Niņal also discussed the Asian Pacific Strategy emerging Diseases (APSED) which serves as a road map for countries in the Asia Pacific region to strengthen planning, prevention, prompt detection,characterization, containment and control of emerging diseases. The National Epidemiology Center chief was one of the resource persons in the Workshop on Epidemic Response Management sponsored by DOH 12 for its officers in charge of Health Education and in the region, provinces and cities of region 12.
