 CAMPUS FORUM ON MILLENIUM DEVELOPMENT GOALS: NEDA 12 Chief Economic Development SpeciaIist Rosa Lemana gives an overview of the Millennium Development Goals which she said, is a set of time-bound and measurable goals and targets for combating poverty, hunger, diseases, illiteracy, environment degradation and discrimination against women. Our target, Lemana said, is to reduce poverty by half, between 1990 and 2015. With a poverty level of 40.8% in 2006, the target is to attain a 23.4% level in 2015 for region 12, Lemana added. The NEDA 12 officer was the resource person on MDG during the Campus Forum held on February 26, 2011 held at the Holy Trinity College, General Santos City. Campus Forum is a joint project of the Philippine Information Agency, Region 12 and the Rotary Club of Greater General Santos City to bring awareness among the students on programs and projects of government with the end in view of encouraging their participation toward good governance.(PIA 12) |
