Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista beams shortly after signing a memorandum of understanding with officials of the Home Development Mutual Fund (PAGIBIG) and Habitat for Humanity to facilitate the development of an on-site socialized housing project in Barangay Payatas to address the city’s housing backlog. The project, which will be developed under the Green Townships framework of the city, will benefit public school teachers and informal settler families occupying danger zones and other high risk-area. Some 300 to 500 new homes will be constructed in the city’s new housing project, the first pro-poor housing project of the Bautista administration. Joining the Mayor in signing the agreement are, from left, Elizabeth Reyes, Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte, Habitat for Humanity managing director and chief executive officer Ricardo Nicanor Jacinto, HDMF chief executive officer Atty. Darlene Marie Berberabe, secretary to the mayor Tadeo Palma and Philip Latonero, a representative from the QC urban poor sector. Looking on are city administrator Victor Endriga, Councilors Jessica Castelo-Daza and Allan Reyes, urban poor affairs office head Ramon Asprer, city planning and development office head Tomasito Cruz and other representatives from HDMF, Habitat Humanity and QC’s urban poor sector.
