PNP Region 8 marks change of leadership on March 4
Tacloban City (March 1) -- The Philippine National Police Regional Office 8 is scheduled to undergo on March 4, 2009, a change of leadership which PNP Chief Jesus A. Verzosa once described as "a proof of a dynamic organization."
At about 8:00 o'clock in the morning of March 4, at the PRO8 Grandstand and parade grounds, Police Chief Superintendent Abner Dayanan Cabalquinto, after almost two years stint in the Region, will turn over the command of PRO8 to Police Chief Superintendent Mario R. Sandiego.
PCSupt. Cabalquinto who has been promoted as Director for Personnel and Records Management, served Eastern Visayas with utmost dedication and has instituted various reforms at PRO 8, anchored on Philippine National Police chief Director General Jesus A. Verzosa's massive integrated transformation program particularly in developing leaders.
Director Cabalquinto has sustained his commitment to the maintenance of peace and order and in the combat of criminality in the area, since he formally took over as Regional Director of PNP8 on May 21, 2007.
Director Cabalquinto is well respected in the circle of Region 8 Administrators and by the various sectors of society, because of his professionalism and commitment to his work. He is known for his religiosity. In fact, one of his accomplishments is the renovation of the PNP Chapel.
On the other hand, PCSupt. Mario R. Sandiego is the erstwhile PNP Legal Service director. He used to be a police provincial director in Tarlac and Pangasinan before becoming a deputy regional director for administration of the PRO2 in Cagayan Valley.
As the new PRO8 Director, PCSupt. Sandiego is expected to pursue vigorously the PNP 8 reforms initiated by his predecessor, anchored on Philippine National Police chief Director General Jesus A. Verzosa's massive integrated transformation program particularly in developing leaders. (PIA 8) [top]
