City councilor commends Pintados for community services and initiatives
Tacloban City (October 1) -- Tacloban City Councilor Cristina G. Romualdez lauded the Pintados Foundation for its many volunteer services and initiatives especially that of preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of Tacloban and the province of Leyte, and that of taking care of the welfare of the streetchildren of Tacloban City through the Pintados Day Center for Street Children.
She expressed optimism that more and more private sector and non-government organizations will partner will the City Government and provide the people a good example of the spirit of volunteerism among all the sectors in the community.
Hon. Romualdez made the remarks as she addressed the audience at the 2nd Regiona Inter School Cheer Dance Competition held at the Tacloban City Convention Center on September 28, 2007.
Speaking in behalf of the City Mayor Alfred Romualdez, the honorable councilor said that the City Government of Tacloban will always support the undertakings of the Pintados Foundation.
In fact the Pintados Foundation and the City Government of Tacloban are making arrangements for several activities as the City's contribution to the forthcoming Leyte Gulf Landings celebration comes October 20, Hon. Romualdez revealed.
The Cheer Dance Competition is a good avenue of developing the talents of the youth of Tacloban and of the whole Region, Hon. Romualdez said. It is greatly in line with the thrust of the City Government of harnessing the full potentials of the youth who are the future leaders of the City and of the country.
The program on the youth is one of the priority programs of the City Government of Tacloban, she said. This of course is aside from Mayor Romualdez dream of making Tacloban a better place to live in by delivering the basic services need by the people and implementing the good ordinances which are not yet operational in the City.
The Cheer Dance competition would not have been a success without the help of the City Government of Tacloban, Pintados President Eugene Tan said. (PIA 8) [top]
