RP anti-terrorism measures are firm - Bunye
MANILA (8 August) -- "Our anti-terrorism measures are firmly in place."
Thus said Press Secretary Ignacio Bunye after National Security Adviser Norberto Gonzales disclosed that at least 10 Indonesian terrorists may have entered the country to sow terror.
Bunye, who is also the Presidential Spokesman, said that the present anti-terrorism measures would be rendered even stronger by the passage of an anti-terrorism law that adheres to international standards of security and human rights.
In a related development, he revealed that terrorist group Abu Sayyaf leaders are on the run from vigorous pursuit operations being conducted by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP).
But we have always stressed, Bunye added, that the final perimeter of defense lies in the Filipino people and the communities themselves as the vigilance of each and every Filipino is important. (PIA-MMIO) [top]
