Lobregat vows continuing drive vs illegal drugs

Zamboanga City (8 August) -- The anti-illegal drugs campaign in the city is ongoing and will continue until the trade and use of illegal drugs is stopped.

This is City Mayor Celso Lobregat's statement in his weekly press conference on the news that the "Tumba Droga" campaign was temporarily stopped due to lack of logistical funding of the city government for the city police.

"There is no truth to the news that there is no funding for the "Tumba Droga" campaign. It is ongoing and will continue to be there until the city is free from illegal drugs", Lobregat stressed.

The mayor pointed to the reports of apprehensions of pushers and users from the police and the continuous buy-bust operations conducted by the city police.

"You can read or hear the news of pushers and users apprehended during buy bust operations conducted by our police. This only shows that we have not stopped our serious campaign against illegal drugs and this is one of our priorities," Lobregat said. (PIA-9) [top]
