Malacaņang hails OFWs for remittances
MANILA (1 December) -- "We hail our overseas Filipino workers (OFW) who have kept the economy buoyant despite the transient lag in growth occasioned by political turmoil."
Thus said Press Secretary and Presidential Spokesman Ignacio Bunye as OFW remittances for the quarter help push the peso to the 53 level against a US dollar.
Bunye said Filipinos the world over are rooting for the motherland while political detractors are dragging the nation down the street.
He pointed out that the contrast between the heroism of the workers and the negativism of the opposition is something that hurts the national pride at a time when team Philippines is competing for excellence in every field and manner.
"This is the time to surge forward and not to fall back, as the forthcoming year brings good hope for a better life for our people," the Secretary also stressed. (PIA-MMIO) [top]
