Palace confident Cha-cha momentum will pick up
MANILA (2 December) -- "The House of Representatives has started the ball rolling and we are confident that the (Charter change) momentum will pick up as the people anticipate and participate in the political and economic reforms that are on stream…"
Press Secretary Ignacio Bunye issued the statement in response to former President Fidel V. Ramos remark, saying the shift to a parliamentary government and the institution of electoral reforms can be achieved in six months if President Arroyo will use her powers to persuade the senators.
Bunye, who is also the Presidential Spokesman, made clear that the Charter change has been a prime agenda of the President who founded firm belief that this would bring forth changes to a degenerated system which has been hampering the growth of the nation.
Meanwhile, the Secretary pointed out that the nation must firmly lay down a solid foundation of political and economic stability to bolster its goal of making the Philippines a first world country in 20 years. (PIA-MMIO) [top]
