Tacloban City (11 September) -- As always, Filipinos have great expectations that the President travels abroad will yield positive results. This is so because President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo has never traveled abroad without bringing home goodies that will make the Filipinos happy.
The fact remains, the President never leaves the country without planning and preparing her agenda. She leaves fully equipped with what she intends to get for the good of the Filipino nation and people. With that, she focuses her attention to her great expectations and voila! She naturally gets positive results.
The President's strengths have always been her knowing what she wants to achieve for the Filipino people and her remaining focused to that agenda amidst all odds. These assets have been bringing good results. The country has taken of economically and politically.
President Arroyo left for Helsinki where she will be delivering her keynote speech at the ASEM which will form the basis of the discussions in the summit. In her speech, the President is expected to aggressively push for energy security and the development of alternative and indigenous sources of energy.
The President is also expected to talk about her 2 Es, the environment where ASEM partners are helping mitigate the adverse effect of climate change; and the economy as the country is committed to sustainable development not only in making the 7,100 islands of the country habitable but able to provide for the need of the present and future generations.
Indeed, as in her previous trip, the Filipino people as they pray for the safe travel of the President, also have great expectations that her trip will yield good results.
What good news and good results came out from the travel, the people will wait eagerly for the Presidents return so that from for her, they will hear the answer to their questions.
