Caraga set to launch KALAHI-CIDSS Phase 4 areas

CARAGA REGION (September 13) -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Caraga Region is set to launch the KALAHI-CIDSS Phase 4 areas with 95 barangyas benefiting. Earlier, a total of 70 community facilitators, engineers, roving bookkeepers and area coordinators were trained to eventually form part of KC's Area Coordinating Team (ACT). Representatives from the participating LGUs have likewise attended to level-off their roles as partners in the project implementation.
The Phase 4 areas, identified for its core poverty situations, are the municipalities of Bayabas, Marihatag and Tagbina in Surigao del Sur and the island municipalities of San Benito, Pilar, Socorro and Libjo in Surigao del Norte.
In view of the increasing demand to combat poverty in the region, the newly-formed ACTs are expected to bring-out social transformation among the underprivileged sector of the region with emphasis on improving local governance and enforcing community empowerment. (DSWD-13/ PIA-13) [top]
