March for justice! cry affected populace

Tacloban City (28 September) -- March for Justice! This is the resounding cry of the families, relatives, friends and residents of the affected barangays seeking for justice of the inhuman acts of the CPP/NPA/NDF during their anti-VD (Venereal Disease) Campaign in the Island of Leyte in the late '80s, reports reaching PIA revealed.

On September 23, 2006, in Baybay, Leyte , about five thousand residents from nine (9) affected barangays came out to the open and joined the rally to show their support, seeking and shouting for justice, denouncing the evil deeds, the inhuman acts of the Communist Terrorists.

The recent discovery of seventy one (71) skeletal remains in the mass grave, which they called it "Garden" in Mt Sapang Dako, Barangay Caulisihan, Inopacan, Leyte made the residents of the affected barangays to start becoming vocal and unafraid, asking assistance from the local chief executives and concerned agencies for justice for their relatives who have been missing in the past several years.

The indignation rally which started at the corner of Jacinto and ML Quezon Sts., to the Municipal Plaza of Baybay, Leyte , was initiated by the residents of the affected barangays bringing with them placards, posters, leaflets, streamers showing their gripes and sentiments and effigies of Communist Terrorist Leaders Joma Sison, Luis Jalandoni and Satur Ocampo. Field Mass followed officiated by Reverend Father Tony Gaviola, the Parish Priest of Baybay, Leyte . Reenactment/dramatization by the residents and relatives showed how the CPP/NPA/NDF abducted, dragged, and eventually killed those suspected infiltrators/informers to their organization. It also showed how they silenced their comrades suspected to be deep penetration agents (DPAs).

Mr Jun Alcover, founder and spokesman of the Alliance of Nationalism and Democracy (ANAD), spoke before the thousands of participants, saying that the "CPP/NPA/NDF are claiming to be the advocates of human rights with equal opportunities and seeking to find the real value of human life in this world. Instead, the communists no longer value life".

The people called on the leadership of the CPP/NPA/NDF to come out in the open and explain, to the people, this organization's responsibility in the mass killings in Inopacan, Leyte not only to alleged militant and progressive members and innocent civilians who strongly resented or refused to be cowed by the Godless, violent and ruthless communist ideology of the Communist Terrorist. They also claimed that Jose Maria Sison, Chair of the CPP, Luis Jalandoni and Satur Ocampo should be held liable for the murder of more than 300 innocent Filipinos, butchered and buried in a single mass grave in Mt. Sapang Dako, Barangay Caulisihan, Inopacan, Leyte , one of the barangay captains said.

The burning of effigies of Joma, Jalandoni and Satur Ocampo highlighted the rally which was participated in by residents coming from Barangays Monterico, Amguhan, Maypatag, Cabungaan, Ampihanon, Ciabu and Pansagan, all of Baybay, Barangay Caulisihan, Inopacan and Barangay San Juan, Mahaplag, all of Leyte.
