Jose Rizal State College in Dapitan to be elevated to university status

Dipolog City (3 April) -- Representative Cecilia Jalosjos-Carreon of the first district of Zamboanga del Norte is now working on the conversion of the Jose Rizal Memorial State College (JRMSC) in Dapitan City into a university.

This was announced by Carreon during the recent graduation ceremony at said school.

Carreon said she felt elated over the remarkable performance shown by the college over the years.

The lady legislator also disclosed that she had already appropriated funds for the construction of a multi-purpose building that may serve as a cultural and sports center of the college.

She also said that a bill converting the college into a university had already been filed in congress, adding that she is now also looking for other sources of funds to increase the number of her scholars in this school. Presently, Carreon has 100 scholars from her district.

The Jose Rizal Memorial State College in Dapitan City was founded in 1993 with campuses in Dipolog City and the municipalities of Katipunan, Tampilisan and Siocon. (PIA) [top]
