Davao City (4 April) -- Women from various sectors revealed issues and concerns concerning their plight during the recently held Social Welfare Development Forum recently held as tribute to "the unconditional sacrifices" they had borne.
They also aired their views on how to further advance their rights and how they can contribute to the development of their areas of involvement.
The regional office of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) conducted the forum last week to popularize best practices of women in governance, reproductive health, in the media, and those involved with projects for the indigenous people sector.
In a project brief, training specialist Lina Canedo of DSWD said "several gains were reaped that put women on strategic advantage, however, the efforts must not stop because there are still challenges brought about by socio-economic, political and cultural structures."
Canedo sought to popularize relevant success stories of women engaged in various field of development work, hoping these will be replicated and emulated.
"Innovations and creativity in the delivery of (development) strategies are worthy of showcasing to further strengthen the awareness, morale and spirit of women," she said. (PIA XI/JMDA) [top]
