Spare PGMA’s efforts to feed the hungry

Davao City (5 April) -- President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s effort to feed the hungry is sincere as there should be no questions about the President’s intentions on this matter, said Presidential spokesperson and Press Secretary Ignacio Bunye as the latter called on the opposition to spare government’s anti-hunger programs from partisan politics.
“Government’s poverty alleviation program has been transparent and will be accounted for,” Secretary Bunye said. “We welcome public scrutiny for as long as the government benefits the poor sector,” he said.
The President is not distracted of the political noise but instead pursues her program and make sure that all systems are in place to efficiently bring down the cost of food in strategic areas, Bunye said.
Efforts to grow the economy, improve incomes and ensure that no Filipinos will go hungry are complex tasks and that there is no single solution to this problem.
Instead of criticizing and politicizing the anti-hunger program, Secretary Bunye said the opposition should work with the administration to address the problem.
“For those who are still very hungry to take over the government, please spare the anti-hunger program of the administration and let the President care for our citizens,” Secretary Bunye said. (PIA XI) [top]
