Cotabato City holds “Kuyog” festival

by Rey Dayaan

Koronadal, South Cotabato (10 April) -- The 4-day “Kuyog Tanu” cultural festival was successfully launched in Cotabato City without any single untoward incidence that could have marred the said affair.

During the closing program of the festival, City Mayor Datu Muslimin G. Sema said, “everybody should thank the Almighty for the very successful holding of this festival. All the key players of this cultural festival deserved ‘kudos’.”

Four major activities highlighted the said occasion, like the Kuyog street dancing, Pakaradian 2007, Kandadalemut Nu Mangegid and Habing Region XII and ARMM.

The festival which reeled off March 31-April 3, 2007 was supported by DOT-ARMM and hosted by the city government of Cotabato on cooperation with several tourism operators and some local government units (LGUs) of Region XII and ARMM.

On her part, DOT 12 Regional Director Bai Sohura T. Dimaampao stressed that, “the festival served as an indicator that Cotabato City is enjoying an atmosphere of good peace and order contrary to some people who portray this part of the country as “magulo” and dangerous place to visit.” (PIA 12) [top]
