DOH 8 calls for would-be midwifery scholars
Tacloban City (April 11) -- Young high school graduates who are interested to become midwifes, here is your chance to take the course for free.
The Department of Health (DOH) Eastern Visayas under the leadership of Director Benita N. Pastor, is now accepting applicants for a two-year course on Midwifery for the year 2007 at the University of the Philippines School of Health and Sciences at Palo, Leyte.
The scholarship will mean that the tuition fee and other school expenses will be solely shouldered by the Department of Health Eastern Visayas. This will be an answer to the prayers of many young high school graduates who are very much interested to take up a course after high school but are unable to do so because of financial constraints.
Ms. Marissa A. Nicolasora, Information Officer Designate of the Department of Health, informed PIA that the scholarship is open to the children who are high school graduates and interested to study midwifery, of all accredited Barangay Health Workers of Region 8.
Those who are qualified may apply at the Department of Health Eastern Visayas Regional Office at the Government Center, Palo, Leyte. The applicants must bring along the required credentials which include Fourth Year Card with a general average of 85 and above, high school diploma, barangay clearance and the BHW ID of the parent.
Director Pastor clarified that the acceptance of applicants and submission of credentials to this scholarship, will start on April 23, 2007 and the examinations will be on April 27, 2007.
The final result will be posted at the Department of Health Eastern Visayas Regional Office on May 2, 2007.
