Negros Occidental, Bacolod City joins Earth Day celebration
Bacolod City (12 April) -- Various non-government organizations join the Negros Occidental and Bacolod City governments in preparing for the celebration of Earth Day 2007 on April 22.
Bacolod Councilor Jocelle Batapa-Sigue, main author of the Earth Day ordinance of Bacolod City was chosen to chair Earth Day Committee 2007, which will spearhead a weeklong celebration of Earth Day from 22 to 26 on the theme: “Remember-Mother Earth! Respond! Rescue! Restore!”
The West Negros College committee will conduct a six-day marathon of ecology protection advocacy and the activities included are an Earth Day Summit on April 22, with exhibits at WNC grounds, symposia and seminars about solid waste management, genetically-modified organisms, among others.
An eco-party and concert will be held on April 27 at the WNC Football Field, featuring the Philippine’s representative in the ASEAN Ecological Summit – Pinikpikan. (PIA) [top]
