Eastern Samar welcomes Team Unity

Borongan, Eastern Samar (April 13) -- Neither distance nor rain deterred the enthusiasm of the ruling party, Team Unity, to visit Eastern Samar province on the occasion of their proclamation rally with the local candidates for the May elections polls.

Led by LAKAS Party Secretary-General, Congressman Marcelino Libanan, seven senatorial candidates with their supporters showed up at the Borongan plaza amidst the loud and near chaotic cheering of the crowd, on Wednesday evening, April. Popular senatorial bet Mike Defensor was closely shock at what he called a very strong unity and political leadership of the province as manifested by the thousands warm bodies in attendance.

Before the guests were called for their respective platforms, Libanan first endorsed the provincial and the 23 municipal candidates. Incumbent and gubernatorial candidates Ben Evardone appeared for his provincemates’ support in order to pursue the on-going progress.

Mrs. Elda Libanan for her part likewise stressed that if given the chance she will continue the unfinished business of her husband. Apparently in answer to critics that the family is forming a political dynasty refers to kingdoms and kingship which is not existent in the country, besides the province was scrapped from the list of the poorest provinces which was not done by a single official nor by one family only. It was a collaborative effort of many a concerned people, agencies and partner agencies. Rather, she said that his husband had been doing is job, real job! And she is prepared to perform; she may not be able to be at par instantly with his hubby’s exemplary performance but she hopes to learn the thing along the way.

Ed Angara who was represented by beauteous wife Gloria, claimed of the scholarship grants, the free public high schools, the Generic Law, the Magna Carta for health workers and the 20% Senior Citizens Act that her husband had contributed to the country as senator, thus appealed for his husband’s reelection.

Migz Zubiri was proud to recall of the “Biofuels Act” which he introduced and which was signed into law. The law provides among others, that all gasoline stations effective January this year He said that together with Gov. Evardone and Cong. Libanan, the have planned to put up a manufacturing plant in the province.

Other senatorial candidates present were: Prospero Pichay, Vic Magsaysay, Tito Sotto, Tessie Oreta who was represented by nephew Carlo and curtain caller Cesar Montano whose serenade the audience awaited till the end, sans the heavy rains. (PIA-Eastern Samar) [top]
