Joker advances Team Unity; visits local radio station

Borongan, Eastern Samar (April 13) -- Joker Arroyo of the Team Unity appealed to the voting public for their support in the forthcoming elections in his bid for a fresh mandate in the senate.
The reelectionist senator aired his call over radio station DYES while answering some questions from the local media. Arroyo vowed he will continue to push for the amendment of the constitution saying that some provisions of it are already outmoded, though he did not elaborate on which one should be modified.
Arroyo has been noted to be a government critic, but asked why he opted to remain in the ruling party, he said that he decided to stay with the administration party for consistency. This move, he said, doesn’t mean he can no longer criticize an opportunist explaining further his choice to stick it out with the administration party since 2001 with the then People Power Coalition.
ON the issue on extrajudicial killings, Arroyo urged the citizenry not to be too harsh in condemning the military as majority of them are good and only a few of them creates a bad name for the Armed Forces of the Philippines. He further appealed that the public should not believe swiftly on sweeping statements against the AFP. He also expressed concerns over the morale of the soldiers who are the defenders of lives and property which according to him must not be downgraded.
On a lighter note, a reported asked how the Arroyo senator is related to FG Mike Arroyo – but he was quick to say they have no iota of blood relation as he pleaded likewise to spare FG of any controversy meanwhile that he is in critical health condition. (PIA-Eastern Samar) [top]
