LAGAWE, Ifugao (13 April) -- Division supervisors, district supervisors, and principals of the different schools of this province underwent a one-day seminar workshop in preparation for their work relative to the coming May 14, 2007 elections.
Led by the Division Superintendent Officer-In-Charge Estela Carino, the school administrators were oriented on the duties and responsibilities, function and power of the Board of Election Inspectors (BEI) of which they will be members to administer the election.
Among the crucial issues discussed were the qualifications of being a member of the BEI, the prohibitions and the allowable stipends that each BEI member is entitled.
Provincial Election Supervisor Ricardo Bulintao was tapped by the group to explain the prohibition on BEI members who are relatives of candidates up to the fourth civil degree by consanguinity or affinity.
He discussed the confusing topic by making illustrations and enumerations of the relationships that are deemed prohibited and how to compute the limit of the fourth degree of civil relationship by consanguinity or affinity that cleared the minds of the teachers.
It was also impressed to the teachers the offenses and penalties relative to violations of the Omnibus Election Code and that they should be guided accordingly by the handbook for safety and avoidance of future problems.
Schools Superintendent Carino also discussed the importance of the seminar reminding all those gathered of their great responsibility to serve the country for a clean, honest, orderly and responsible election. (PIA Ifugao) [top]
