Commentary: Hope for the Elections

Koronadal, South Cotabato (16 April) -- There is hope that the forthcoming May 14 elections will be honest, Orderly, Peaceful Elections (HOPE).
This is what the organizers of a peace covenant signed by candidates for Cotabato City last Saturday morning and witnessed by key officials of Comelec, PNP, AFP, DILG, Muslim and Christian religious representatives and other concerned citizens of the city said during the signing of said during the signing of said peace covenant.
The peace covenant signing was attended by candidates running for the posts for the City and the First District of Maguindanao.
Aspirants for the positions of the city mayor, vice mayor, councilor and representatives of the First District of Maguindanao to the Lower House of Congress, unanimously expressed their unity by signing said peace covenant without any objections to the content of the covenant.
The common expectation of all those present during the signing is that the mandate of the people should be the one that will prevail after the elections and will be upheld by all concerned. (PIA 12) [top]
