Tampakan PNP strictly implements gun ban

Koronadal City (19 April) -- The Tampakan Police under P/Inspector Samuel V. Baustista is making sure the implementation of the Election Gun Ban on the basis of COMELEC Resolutions No. 7765 and No.7784 is on track.

Bautista disclosed that the local police force has been conducting surprise checkpoints in strategic points in Tampakan town as a strategy and that would ensure the conduct of a peaceful, honest and credible elections on May 14, 2007.

The police chief likewise said the PNP also led the conduct of consultations with local candidates seeking for local posts, where during the forum, he has stressed the role of the Philippine National Police deputized by the Commission on Elections in the preliminary examinations on the violation of the ban on firearms, deadly weapons and other aspects like security personnel of local candidates.

Bautista also revealed the deployment of PNP personnel in the different barangays of Tampakan except barangays Palo, Tablu and Albagan. These three barangays are said to be under COMELEC control, which the commission had already requested the assistance of the Armed Forces of the Philippines to ensure peaceful elections in these areas.
