Pangasinan bets told to use common poster areas

PANGASINAN (20 April) -- Local bets in Dagupan City have been directed to use the common poster areas for the posting of their election propaganda materials.

City election Officer Remarque L. Ravanzo noted violations being committed by some candidates and their supporters regarding proper and lawful posting.

I have sent the candidates notices on common poster areas in Dagupan City like the city plaza, the public market and the barangay centers in the different 31 barangays of the city. Election materials can be posted in private residences only with the consent of the owner," Ravanzo said.

The city candidates were advised to build common poster areas at their own expense in areas of heavy vehicular and pedestrian traffic.

Ravanzo particularly advised candidates to observe the prescribed poster size of 2 feet by 3 feet when posting election materials in common poster areas.

Streamers with the size of 5 feet are allowed only in party headquarters, at the residence of the candidates and on the site and occasion of public rallies.

He suggested it would be better if they hire mobile units to go around Dagupan and announce their platforms or distribute leaflets when they campaign from house to house.

Aside from the campaign posters, local bets who put up tarpaulins before they filed their certificate of candidacy were requested to bring these down already since the campaign period has started.

If they will not comply, the Comelec and its deputized agencies will remove these huge tarpaulins in compliance with Section 31 of Comelec Resolution No. 7767, Ravanzo added. (PIA-Pangasinan) [top]
