DOLE prepares for 105th Labor Day celebration

Tacloban City (20 April) -- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Regional Office No. 8 headed by Regional Director Forter G. Puguon is again in the middle of preparations in relation to the 105th Labor Day celebration come May 1 with Justice Eduardo Antonio B. Nachura as Honorable Guest.
Labor Day is a special day for workers. Aside from giving them a day of rest or a holiday, special activities will be conducted to give them due recognition.
According to Director Puguon, DOLE is expecting job openings during the celebration of Labor Day because local and foreign based companies are expected to participate in the activities on said day. Interested applicants are expected to bring with them pertinent necessary documents relative to their application.
However, Directed Puguon cautions applicants, especially those who are seeking overseas employment to verify and examine the credibility and authenticity of the agencies where they are applying to avoid being victims of illegal recruiters.
Aside from the Jobs Fair, blood letting will also be conducted on said day which will be held at the Tacloban Convention Center, Sagkahan District, Tacloban City. Relative to this, blood donors who are at least 18 to 60 years old are qualified to donate blood and are advised not to drink liquor a day before. The donor must at least weigh 55 kilos and in good health.
The whole day activity will start with a Holy Mass which will be officiated by Rev. Fr. Ervy Darvy Lajara at 7:00 A.M. (PIA-8) [top]
