Zambales holds "Paynauen 2007" festival

Iba, Zambales (23 April) -- Want to beat the arid summer, and do away with the blues of this season? "Mag-iba na tayo", the slogan adapted by this town to enticed nature lovers to see for themselves what this town can offer tourist from other provinces.
The capital town of Iba celebrates its 396th year foundation, commemorating its history, from April 11 until 15, dubbed as "Duyan" Festival.
The event marked as "Paynauen" a Zambal word, which means a resting place or a fortress.
Among the highlights of this occasion include: skate board contest, battle of the bands, contest of Mr. And Miss Paynauen both for the teens and the elderly, street dancing among locals depicting the variations of ati-atihan, as well as the agri-agra exhibits of produce among locals.
This was a project of the Municipal Government in cooperation among the non-government organizations. (PIA Zambales) [top]
