Angnganay assumes as vice governor Diasen son recommended as SP member

TABUK, Kalinga (23 April) -- Members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) here recently recommended a son of the late Vice Governor Rommel W. Diasen for appointment by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo to become a member of the legislative body of the province.

This move came with the creation of a vacancy of a seat in the SP after Senior Board Member Sergio Angnganay assumed as Vice Governor on April 9 following of the death of Vice Governor Rommel Diasen.

In a resolution, the SP members unanimously approved that Mark Aldrich R. Diasen, a fourth year law student, be appointed as a member of the Provincial Board.

'Considering his educational qualification, this Body deems that he is the most qualified and appropriate person to fill in the vacancy in the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Office to continue the dreams and programs of the deceased father for the betterment of the Province of Kalinga,' the Board Members state in a resolution.

Once appointed, Diasen will be serving the provincial government for at least three-months or until the next SP members assumes office after the May 14 elections.

Vice governor Diasen, who was also a gubernatorial candidate, was gunned down last April 7 at barangay Magnao, Tabuk while delivering his speech in a campaign sortie. ** His killer is still the subject of manhunt. (ggd/PIA-Kalinga) [top]
