TESDA bares LEP, Training-for-Work scholarship passers

Borongan, Eastern Samar (24 April) -- The Technical Education, Skills Development (TESDA) office in Borongan, Eastern Samar recently announced the names of the temporary passers for its Ladderized and Training for Works Program.
Of the forty applicants, thirty two qualified in the preliminary elimination process. Eight passed for wielding, five for the LEP or Ladderized Program, ten for the household services and one for care giving. The trainings for the passers will take place in Don Bosco Training Center in Borongan, and Eastern Samar State University (ESU), respectively.
Unfortunately, the six aspirants for the call center training did not qualify because of their poor proficiency in English. The finalist of the qualified scholars will be determined through a draw by lots on April 25,2007 at the governor's office.
The number of qualifiers was reduced because the scholarship grant of P200,000 by Gov. Ben Evardone could not accommodate all thirty two passers. Another reason is that some government employees qualified for the scholarship. To this, the office of the governor said that only those who do not have work will be given priority. And all the other applicants who did not pass the first and second elimination can still avail of the trainings the TESDA offers, even without the scholarship. (PIA) [top]
