Davao City holds nutrition council meeting

Davao City (25 April) -- Davao City Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte who heads the Davao City Nutrition Council ordered City Health Officer Dr. Josephine Villafuerte to strictly implement the total nutrition development program of the city.
With this, CHO Villafuerte has called for a council meeting on Friday (April 27 from 800am to 12noon at the Nutrition division along Camus Street. The Nutrition division office along Camus street is headed by Venus Millana.
Presidential Decree No. 491 or the Nutrition Act of the Philippines signed June 25, 1974, created the National Nutrition Council as the highest policy-making and coordinating body on nutrition.
In region eleven, the NNC is headed by its regional head Ma. Teresa Ungson. The set-up begins at the national level with the NNC and its management committee and the inter-agency technical committees, and at the sub-national level, the elements of the organizational hierarchy are the regional, provincial, city, municipal, barangay nutrition committees.
In Davao, Mayor Duterte has created the Davao City Nutriton Council to lead the strict monitoring and supervision of the total nutrition development in the whole city.
The DCNC is headed by the Mayor with the City Administrator as co-chairman; CHO as vice-chairman; and representatives of various local, national and non-government organizations as members.
Members from the local government unit include the CHO; City Agriculture Office; CSSDO; City Planning and Development Office; and City Veterinarian's Office.
From the national level are the DTI; DILG' DA; DOST; DepED; PIA; and the National Dairy Authority.
Member from the NGOs include: Federation of Davao Dairy Farmers' Cooperative; Consultant on Special Concerns; Executive Assistant of the City Mayor; Consultant on Socio-Economic Planning; ?City Budget Officer; City Accountant; and the City Treasurer. (PIA-XI) [top]
