Preparations for Labor Day celebration underway

BUTUAN CITY (April 25) -- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Caraga Region, is now SET for the conduct of the Labor Day celebration come May 1st.
In a written statement, DOLE-Caraga Regional Director Chona Mantilla said a mass will formally open the celebration at the Saint Joseph Cathedralopen to the general public.
Highlighting the celebration is the awarding of the 2006 winners for the Search for Outstanding Employers and Employees in Caraga to recognize best performing companies and workers in the four provinces and three cities in the region.
Part of major activities is a sportsfest open to all interested individuals who can play basketball, badminton, dart, chess, dama, and larong pinoy.
Dir. Mantilla added that Jobs Fair on overseas and local employment will also be conducted on May 2 and 3 at the DOLE Regional Office, this city.
A total of ten overseas and five local recruitment agencies will participate on the jobs fair. These agencies are looking for skilled workers, nurses, domestic helpers, and other jobs that are needed here and abroad.
The activity is to realize the program of the national government on jobs generation.
This year's Labor Day celebration is anchored on the theme "Galing, Husay, at Talino Handog ng Manggagawang Pilipino." (PIA-13) [top]
