Butuan sets awarding rites for 2006 outstanding Caraga employers and employees

BUTUAN CITY (April 25) -- The awarding of winners of the 2006 outstanding Caraga employers and employees is set on May 1 that will highlight the Labor Day celebration at Father Saturnino Urios University, this city.

This announcement was made by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Caraga Region in a written statement sent to PIA Regional Office.

Aimed at recognizing the best performing companies and workers in the four provinces and three cities of the region, the competition is open to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and large companies regardless of industry classification.

This year, four nominees qualified in the Employers category. They are Pacific Cement Philippines Incorporated of Surigao City, Taganito Mining, Cagdianao Mining and Rural Bank of Placer, all of Surigao del Norte.

In the employees category, Edgardo Vega of Picop Resources Incorporated heading the list of nominees with Leonardo Arienza and Rodolfo Sorna. Vega is a supervisor of a company while Arienza and Sorna are rank and file.

Completing the list of nominees are Raymundo Landero and David Dumas. Both are supervisor and rank and file, respectively, of Taganito Mining Corporation.

There are three requirements in order to become an outstanding employer, they must be social responsible and have contributed to socio-economic development - 40%; Concern for workers - 30%; and Industry leadership - 30%.

In the employees category, Leadership and integrity bears 30% of the total percentage. Good employee and work performance is 30%. Community involvement - 20% and another 20% for Special contribution to employees development.

Members of the board of judges is composed of representatives form the labor sector, management sector, government sector, civic and NGOs, and the media. (PIA-13) [top]
