PGMA visits Cebu
Cebu City (27 April) -- President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is scheduled to visit Cebu today for the inauguration of governance projects and endorse the Team Unity candidates in three major rallies in the province.
Arroyo is expected to arrive at 2:00 p.m. and will immediately proceed to Talisay City for a scheduled Team Unity (TU) rally after the inauguration of the city's Hall of Justice.
Vice President Noli de Catro will represent the President in Toledo City for the inauguration of the 34.8-km. Naga-Toledo Road Improvement Project set at 10:30 a.m. today. President Arroyo was the key guest of honor during the project's groundbreaking ceremony on September 30, 2004.
Public Works and Highways Manuel Bonoan will also be present during the project's inaugural activities. Work on the project started on November 11, 2004 with a revised project cost of P805.3M, a slight decrease from its original project cost of P805.6M.
From Toledo City, VP De Castro will motor to the Pres. Sergio Osmeņa Sr. Memorial Multi-Purpose Center for the TU political rally.
After the Talisay rally, President Arroyo will motor to the Cebu Coliseum in Cebu City to listen to the two winners of the 32nd Visayas Qur'an Reading Competition where 5,000 participants from Regions 6,7 & 8 will converge for the annual event spearheaded by the Office of Muslim Affairs.
Her Excellency will lead the groundbreaking of the Cebu North Coastal Road Project at Brgy. Paknaan, Mandaue City at 4:00 p.m. which is one the major projects under the Super Region concept.
The President together with the TU candidates are invited to dinner in Danao City together with local city officials. Tourism Sec. Joseph "Ace" Durano hails from Danao whose father is also the city mayor while a huge rally has been organized for the Team Unity bets.
Another scheduled political rally for the Team Unity is at the Mandaue City Sports Complex where Mrs. Arroyo will attend at 7:00 in the evening. After the event, the President will fly back to Manila. (PIA-Cebu/FCR) [top]
