General Santos City (27 April) -- Police Regional Office 12 is presently posed with challenges come the May 14 polls for national as well as local positions in the government. This calls for an extra effort of the PNP to insure that this year's polls is violence- free through gun control and neutralizing lawless elements -- that violence is kept to the minimum. The Palarong Pambansa also requires same effort. The recent bombings and the jailbreaks have also given much embarrassment to the force.

Police Regional Office 12 is taking strides towards accomplishing its mission to regain the full trust and confidence of the populace as its partner in securing the peace and stability of our communities region wide.

PCSUPT FELIZARDO M SERAPIO made these strides possible whilst he led the Inspecting/ Monitoring Team composed of the officers from the Regional Headquarters to conduct a surprise inspection of all PNP units and police stations. He said PRO 12 had to address the issues on maintaining the peace and safeguarding the welfare of the community, while operating in the ambit of the law in a matter that builds the community's confidence in the police.

To create a positive public perception of the PNP, the regional director do not tolerate any police officer caught doing irregularities in duty will be immediately sanctioned. These include sleeping on post; absence in police boxes/complaint desks/ detention cell posts; tardiness; gambling in office premises; failure to conduct patrol/ checkpoints in the respective areas of responsibility and other infractions of internal discipline. These irregularities will be investigated by the Regional Investigation and Detection Management Division (RIDMD) and be subjected for a two- day reorientation in the Regional Headquarters for first offense committed. On second offense, personnel will suffer severe penalties to dismissal from the PNP service.

PCSUPT SERAPIO henceforth directed all provincial and city directors and the Group Director of the Regional Mobile Group 12 to adhere on the directives and submit to the office of the Regional Director the list of erring PNP personnel and proper administrative sanctions shall be imposed upon them.
