Kalinga employees promote Green Philippines

TABUK, Kalinga (28 April) -- Government employees here trooped to their area of assignment during the celebration of Earth Day 2007 on April 23 for a general cleaning around office premises.

OIC Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer Diego Ambatali said an Executive Order was issued by Governor Dominador Belac Sr. enjoining government employees including the private sector to celebrate Earth Day by cleaning.

However, with April 22 being a Sunday, cleaning activities was moved to April 23, a Monday, in order for public workers to join the clean brigade.

Ambatali said this is in support to the Green Philippines program of government which is a priority project of the Arroyo administration until 2008. “This activity is working toward green governance, green economy, green sacraments, and green choices,” he said.

“A green and clean working environment makes employees perform high; a protected natural resources contributes to preserving the patrimony of the nation for more economic benefits; the active participation of the Church enliven the spiritual being of humans; and a healthy human resource can decide on right choices for better living,” Ambatali explained.
