PNP 12 extends assistance to "Days of Peace" campaign in Mindanao

General Santos City (28 April) -- Police Regional Office (PRO) 12 Regional Director Pcsupt Felizardo M Serapio Jr ordered the Cotabato City Police Office (CCPO) to beef up its security measures and safeguard the 3- day visit of The Voicy Team during the implementation of “Days of Peace” Campaign in Mindanao which started April 23, 2007 and ended yesterday.

He enjoined Cotabato Police to extend necessary assistance to the team comprised of the Local and International Monitoring Teams, Regional Project Management Office, Provincial, Rural and Municipal Health Offices, and the different health teams in the areas covered by the campaign to ensure their passage and allow the smooth delivery of services in the areas.

According to PC/Insp. Jomar Alexis Yap, PRO 12 Information Officer, “The Days of Peace” is a year- long campaign where the Department of Health (DOH) is extending its health services nationwide. “

He said it jumpstarted last April 16, 2007 with its “Garantisadong Pambata” nationwide campaign, providing children with immunization, micronutrients supplementation, de- worming and lectures on breast feeding for mothers.

“Another phase will be scheduled in June 2007 with possible inclusion of birth registration and provision of school supplies for elementary pupils and another similar campaign come October 2007, in time for another “Garantisadong Pambata” nationwide campaign,” he revealed.

Joint GRP-MILF Coordinating Committees in Cessation of Hostilities, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), BIAF-MILF and the International Monitoring Team helped coordinated with the Cotabato City Police Office (CCPO) in ensuring the campaign’s success. (RPIO_PRO12/ PHG_PIA-SarGen) [top]
