TESDA launches e-TESDA online training

Tacloban City (April 30) -- In order to further enhance the development of vocational and technical training, the Technical Education Skills Development Authority will launch on April 30, e-TESDA which is an online training program.

Director Juan M. Sabulao Jr., through Ms. Beth P. Garcia, during the recently held Harampang Ha PIA, informed that the launching in Manila will be led by no less than President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

Director Sabulao revealed that initially, TESDA Regional Office 8 will pilot the e-TESDA at the TESDA Abucay Regional Training Center and at the Balicuatro School of Arts and Trade in Arteche, Eastern Samar.

Director Sabulao said that through the e-TESDA, the trainee will just get his training through the internet. This will be beneficial to the students who cannot afford to pay for the transportation cost and the board and lodging expenses.

Ms. Garcia said that for a start, TESDA has a limited slots good for 10 trainees only. Also TESDA the courses offered at the e-TESDA is limited to welding, refrigeration and aircon repair, and automotive courses.

Further, the e-TESDA online training in Region 8 will not purely be online training, Ms. Garcia said. There will also be times when the trainee will be requested to report to the training center.
