Leyte metro water district implements online payment system
Tacloban City (April 30) -- As part of its continuous quest to provide better service to its clientele and in order to improve its collection efficiency, the Leyte Metropolitan Water District has launched and is currently implementing the On-line Payment System.
This was revealed by LMWD General Manager Nestor Villasin who said that the new system will initially apply to payments being made at the LMWD main office.
Manager Villasin said that as recommended by the Commission on Audit Information Technology Audit team, the On-line Payment System disallows the management from manually intervening in the surcharge or penalty computation process.
This means that surcharges for payments made after due date shall automatically be computed by the new system.
Ms. Maria Theresa D. Pascua of the LMWD Management added that since there is that possibility that delays in reporting payments made at the bank, some concessionaires’ account might be erroneously charged with surcharges and penalties even if some are paid on time.
She advised the LMWD concessionaires who will be paying their water bills two (2) days before the indicated due date, to instead transact business at the LMWD main office along A. Mabini Street, Tacloban City.
She added that the LMWD Main Office is accepting payments of water bills from 8:00 o’clock in the morning up to 5:00 o’clock in the afternoon without noon break, from Monday to Friday.
The Leyte Metropolitan Water District is in charged of the operations and management of the water district with major water source at the Binahaan River, located at Brgy Tingib, Pastrana, Leyte, augmented by the Hiabangan and Hitongnob Falls in Dagami, Leyte, ranging a 12-18 kilometer-distance from Binahaan river.
