Siquijor (5 June) -- The Free Assessment Service of TESDA (FAST) is going full blast with the administration of exams simultaneously in TESDA centers throughout the country last May 26 and 27.
In Siquijor province, the exams are supposed to be held at Lazi National Agricultural School (LNAS) but Technical Education skills and Development Specialist 1 Pierre S. Pakilit said nobody from Siquijor has availed of the program as of press time.
In a phone interview, Pakilit said he is positive there are interested individuals but are not just aware because the program was launched just last week.
He said, however, that the assessment will be made a TESDA's regular weekend activity and interested applicants may inquire at their office, anytime.
The conduct of free assessment is part of the overall program of the Arroyo administration to widen access to TESDA's services. Assessment exams offered are Household Services, personal computer operations, welding, automotive servicing, food and beverage service, wiring installation and dressmaking, among others.
The Technical Education skills and Development Authority (TESDA), in its aim to help Filipinos gain employment opportunities, is offering its assessment, training and certification services absolutely free via the FAST program.
Certification of skills means additional credential for job-ready individuals. Bound-for-abroad household service workers, for instance, are mandated by the Philippine Overseas Employment Agencyt to obtain a Household Service Worker National Certificate II issued officially by TESDA. (PIA) [top]
