Tagalog News: ERC magpapalabas ang temporary authority para ibaba ang power rates

Manila (1 September) -- Nakatakdang magpalabas ng provisional authority ang Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) upang ibaba ng state-run power firm ng mahigit piso ang babayarin sa kuryente sa buwan ng Oktubre.

Ang desisyon ng ERC ay nakatakda ng kabawasan sa foreign exchange gains ng National Power Corporation (Napocor) ng P1.2723 bawat kilowatt-hour sa ilalim ng Incremental Currency Adjustment (Icera). Ang Napocor at nakapagtala ng P78 billion foreign exchange gains noong 2005 at P65 billion noong 2006.

Kinumpirma kamakailan ng ERC na ang 74.25 centavo per kilowatt hour provisional authority na ipinagkaloob sa Napocor ay ipinasa sa mga consumers mula February hanggang sa kasalukuyan upang mabawi ang foreign losses nito mula November 2005 hanggang January 2006.

Sa sandaling nabawi na ng Napocor ang additional cost busod ng fluctuation sa foreign exchange, ay hihinto na rin ang pagpataw ng karagdagang charges, ayon sa ERC.

Tiniyak ng Napocor ang publiko na hindi sila magtataas ng power rates. (pbc/PIA 12) [top]
