DILG spearheads observance of National Crime Prevention Week

Tacloban City (3 September) -- In observance of the 13th National Crime Prevention week which starts today, September 3, the Department of Interior & Local Government (DILG), Region 8 through its Regional Director William Paler prepared various activities involving the different government entities in the region, specifically members of the Regional Management Coordinating Committee (RMCC).
To start with, at 7:00 o'clock this morning, a well-attended Holy Mass was celebrated at the Sto. Niņo Church, which was immediately followed by a Commemorative Program conducted at the Plaza Rizal, Tacloban.
Right after the program, a motorcade was conducted around the city of Tacloban participated in by different government entities, non-government organizations, and some stakeholders.
The presence of Tacloban City Mayor Alfred Romualdez, who delivered a message during the program, added color to the affair.
Meanwhile, it was learned from DILG that the RMCC is chaired by both the DILG and the National Police Commission with the Philippine National Police, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, National Bureau of Investigation, BDP, Bureau of Jail Management & Penology, Department of Education, and the Philippine Information Agency acting as members.
On the other hand, it was also bared that National Prevention Week which is observed annually pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 461 dated August 31, 1994 aims to enhance peace and order situation and to reduce all forms of crimes being committed by some of our constituents. (PIA-8) [top]
