Pay your cash advances, NVizcaya town mayor tells erring employees, officials
QUEZON, Nueva Vizcaya (September 4) -- Mayor Aurelio Salunat here has insisted that municipal employees and officials who have incurred cash advances in the previous years should now settle their obligations to enable the local government unit in its bid to hasten the implementation of projects and programs in this town.
In a statement over radio station DWRV, Salunat, a first termer local chief executive here admitted that there are already group of employees and officials who have asked apology in connection with their cash advances which according to him has subsequently drained the local government of the needed funds for the development of programs and projects.
The mayor said millions of pesos have been cash advanced indiscriminately by employees and officials of the past administration, which is now delaying the implementation of projects and programs of the new leadership.
"It is now high time for them to pay back their cash advances. They have apologized but they must pay back so as to bring back these funds to our constituents in terms of projects and programs," Salunat said.
The mayor also said they will ask the Commission on Audit(COA) to know the real amount that went into cash advances and other unscrupulous spendings of the past administration.
He added that he will file appropriate cases to those who will be found liable for the said cash advances which is now the main reasons why the LGU is in a difficult economic situation.
"I cannot tell lies to our constituents. I will explain this to them so that they will know the real situation of our municipality," Salunat said. (PIA NVizcaya) [top]
