10 Manila-based bands, other artists to rock GenSan Tuna Fest

General Santos City (4 September) -- For the first time since it started nine years ago, ten major bands and other performing artists from Manila and Cebu will entertain visitors and locals alike in this year's Tuna Festival in Gen. Santos City.

According to Festival Director Bebot Haw, this year's celebration which commemorates the 39th Charter Anniversary of the city may be considered as the most star-studded yet. What makes it even more special is the fact that most of the concerts and shows lined up by different festival partners are FREE to the public, he added.

The fun starts on the night of August 31 with two bands performing in separate venues: Session Road at East Asia Royale Hotel and Callalily at the Anchor Driving Range.

On September 1, the Kapamilya Sabado Party kicks off starting at 10:00am at the KCC Mall Rooftop Parking Area with Davao-based artists and sexy star Jenny Miller.

That same night, it will be the turn of both Slapshock and Itchyworms and Davao-based Euphonic Band to strut their stuff at the same venue to coincide with the mall's Tunafest Midnite Sale.

At the same time, Spongecola will also be perfoming at the Lagao Gym with artists-singers Jolina Magdangal, Chad Peralta and Champagne Morales.

On the other side of the town at the Oval Plaza Stage, the cast of the TV series "KOKEY" will be enlivening the night together with comedienne Pokwang and sexy star Jenny Miller again in another show by media giant ABS-CBN.

Sunday, September 2 is reserved for teenstar Sam Concepcion who will guest at Gaisano Mall's Search for Munting Mutya at their Atrium.

On the evening of September 4, all roads lead to the Lagao Gym again as this time, the band Bamboo promises everyone a really good party.

Everything however culminates on September 5, 2007 because of these major events featuring Manila-based artists:

  • 11:00 am - GMA 7 Davao's Live Taping of "KUYAW" with guest Sex Bomb Dancer Rochelle @ KCC Rooftop Parking Area;
  • 1:00 pm - SMART DAY with Matt Evans and Melissa Riggs @ Oval Plaza Stage;
  • 7:00 pm - SMART DAY (continuation) with bands IMAGO & ROCKSTEADY @ Oval Plaza Stage;
  • 7:00 pm - SINGING DRIVER CONTEST with RENZ VERANO @ Oval Covered Court;
  • 7:00 pm - MUSICOLA with band RAZORBACK @ Oval Partyzone.

    And as a fitting finale, showband FREESTYLE will rock the house with a post-festival concert at the Car Park of the East Asia Royale Hotel arcade on September 8.

    Mr. Bebot Haw therefore enjoins everyone to support these activities and all other events of the Tunafest. He remarked that this would have not been possible if not for the directive of City Mayor Pedro Acharon, Jr. to ensure that the "generals" truly experience a "festival like no other".
