Oro gov't lauds Kagay-an Festival success

Cagayan de Oro City (4 September) -- A STRONG collaboration between the private and public sector is further strengthened after the city government of Cagayan de Oro lauded the officials of Promote CDO Foundation, Inc. for the successful management of the 'Kagay-an Festival 2007'.

This after city officials expressed their congratulatory message to the Promote CDO Foundation members headed by its president Rudy Menes and fiesta management chair Ruben Vegafria.

During the recent formal turn-over of checks to the Miss Kagay-an Tourism winners, City Mayor Constantino G. Jaraula expressed his gratitude to the Promote CDO Foundation for successfully handling the core events of the city fiesta despite some glitches even as he hoped that the group could still manage well the festivities next year.

He cited that local residents, visitors and tourists flocked the city's streets in order to witness the crowd-drawing events and other fiesta revelries, noting the rise of the number of visitors during the month-long festivities.

For his part, Vice Mayor Vicente Y. Emano, who presented the checks to the two Miss Kagay-an Tourism winners, expressed gladness in the overwhelming success of the fiesta celebration this year.

He personally congratulated Vegafria and Menes for their able leadership in the management of city fiesta and even expressed his all-out support to the Promote CDO Foundation to run the annual event in 2008.

Vegafria said that he is very thankful for the support and cooperation of all Cagayanons, especially the logistical and technical assistance extended by the city government to the group.

He added that the management group had already conducted a post-evaluation so as to identify issues and concerns that need improvement. A thanksgiving for the members of the different working groups is also set.

It can be recalled that the City Council presided by then Vice Mayor Michelle Tagarda-Spiers approved in February this year City Ordinance No. 10514-2007 granting Promote CDO Foundation, Inc. the exclusive authority to manage and operate the city fiesta celebration effective August 2007, without cost to the city government for the next seven years through the effort of then Mayor Emano.
