Strive for excellence in performance, mayor tells Oro cops

Cagayan de Oro City (4 September) -- City Mayor Constantino G. Jaraula today challenged the officials of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO) to set a high standard of performance for the local police force in line with the city government's effort to promote public safety and order here.

In his first command conference with the COCPO officials led by acting city police director Antonio C. Montalba and concurrent RTA administrator and COCPO consultant Filipino O. Amoguis, Mayor Jaraula said local policemen must endeavor to become A-1 police officers.

Mayor Jaraula pointed out that policemen who are assigned in the city must be the best of their kind as the challenges of their duty along peace and order arise hour after hour.

"I want you to set a high standard of performance among your ranks, otherwise, there is no reason for you to become part of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office," Mayor Jaraula contended.

He added that when local policemen will instill a high level of discipline and performance within themselves, they will also feel pride in wearing their police uniform.

The city chief executive said that there is no time for the law enforcers to relax in their task to ensure the safety and protection of the people and guests in the city.

Mayor Jaraula initiated the command conference this morning to personally discuss with the local police officials important concerns that will improve the performance of duty of local policemen.

As an offshoot of the conference, Mayor Jaraula approved the request of Col. Montalba for 10 units of handheld radio, 10 typewriters and additional gasoline allocation to augment the operations of the 10 community police precincts in the city.

Mayor Jaraula also tasked City Administrator Griscelda Joson to look for possible allocation for the purchase of computers for the 10 police precincts, as well as the purchase of armored vests for the SWAT members.

Mayor Jaraula vowed to support all the programs of the local police office. (Cagayan de Oro City IO/PIA-MisOrOccCam i-Net) [top]
