by T. Villavert

Iloilo City (5 September) -- A Seminar-Workshop on Records and Archives Counter Disaster Planning is set to be conducted by the National Archives of the Philippines at Crown Regency Residences in Cebu City on September 11-13, 2007.

Acting Director Marietta R. Chou of the National Archives of the Philippines said in her invitation to various government agencies in Western Visayas, that the seminar-workshop is designed to increase awareness and enhance capabilities of archives and records personnel on how to cope when emergencies occur and plan for the protection, salvage, and preservation of their records.

Invited to attend the activity are department and division heads, local chief executives, records officers, records custodians, clerks, secretaries and other personnel involved in handling records.

Chou said that while the activity is a live-out seminar, the participants are informed that the seminar fee is P3,900.00.

The National Archive of the Philippines is a government agency mandated and authorized to conduct government-wide training on public records management and archives administration as provided in Article II, Section 6 (c) (5) of RA 9470, also known as the National Archives of the Philippines Act of 2007.
